GO HEALTHY BODY AND HAPPY MIND
There is always a strong distinction between 'mind' and 'body.' However, when discussing mental health and physical well being, the two should not be regarded as distinct. Poor physical health can contribute to increased risk of mental health issues.
MENTAL HEALTH
The general definition of mental health refers to an individual's well-being at the physical, social and psychological levels. The state of mental health of someone has tremendous control on their way of behaving, managing thoughts, and making decisions. A person in good mental health can maintain healthy relationships, express a vast array of emotions, and manage change difficulties. The World Health Organization ( WHO ) defines mental well being as the state of well-being in which each individual realises their own potential, manages normal life stresses, works productively and fruitfully, and can contribute to their community.
These are some of the signs that someone is changing mental health:
- Changes in pattern of sleep and feeding
- Abandonment of friends , family and activities
- Loss of control
- Increasing mood swings and irritability
- Loss of school or job results
These symptoms indicate a decline in mental health, and may point to a psychological disorder developing. Some of the most common infant and young adult disorders include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Bipolar Trouble
- Impulse Check Disorder
PHYSICAL HEALTH
They still pay much greater attention to physical health than mental health when it comes to children and young adults. Parents and guardians pour a great deal of energy into ensuring that children grow up physically healthy but may not have a complete picture of what physical health entails. There are two central components to physical health.
Nutrition
Good nutrition is important for everyone but even more resources are required by growing bodies. To physical health a variety of vitamins and minerals is important, as are the right quantities of protein and carbohydrates. Balancing your child's diet gives them a far better chance to stay healthy physically.
Activity
Ensuring kids get enough exercise and physical activity is becoming increasingly challenging. With the development of screens, children and young adults are becoming more sedentary in every area of life. Television is one of the main culprits for developing a sedentary lifestyle. Children watching three or more hours of television a day are 65 per cent more likely to become obese than children watching less than an hour a day. Both types of screen time have negative health effects, ranging from lack of sleep to learning difficulties.
HOW MENTAL HEALTH AND PHYSICAL HEALTH CONTROLS EACH OTHER
Depression And Immune System:
Depression, America's most common mental disorder, doesn't just impact mood and motivation. It can impact the immune system directly by suppressing T-cell responses to viruses and bacteria. Being sick is better, and being sick longer. A compromised immune system can also contribute to a spike in allergy frequency or asthma.
Some studies indicate it may be the opposite, and the immune system may actually cause depression. Stress — particularly the chronic type — induces an immune response within the brain itself. The inflammatory response can be a causal driver of depression.
Mental Illness And Exhaustion:
Depression , anxiety, and other mood disorders often lead to persistent feelings of exhaustion and tiredness. Some suggest inappropriately that "it's all in your head," but research shows that is not the case. Mentally exhausted leads to physical exhaustion.
Anxiety, Anger And Heart Health:
In the case of anxiety, the chance of heart failure over the next two hours increases by 9.5 fold. While young people are generally a long way from having to worry about heart attacks, their growing hearts may be negatively affected by anger and anxiety involved in impulse control disorders.
TIPS THAT WILL HELP GENERATE A HEALTHY MIND AND BODY
Merely taking control of the mind is not the best way of maintaining or improving your mental health. Here are a few ways to improve one's physical and mental health:
Exercise can release good-natured brain chemicals such as endorphins and serotonin, which can relieve depression and fear. Pick a program or exercise form that works for you. This can be cardiovascular interval training, or a more conscious and purpose-driven yoga practice or something in between. What's important here is that you stick to it.
Eat A Balanced Diet
Increased depression and anxiety were strongly correlated with diets loaded with processed, high calorie, low nutrient food. Stop skipping meals which can result in tiredness and excessive snacking. Try to include in your meals fruits , vegetables , nuts, whole grains , fish and healthy fats such as avocados. This will help in enhanced brain function.
Keep A Regular Sleep Schedule
Depression, anxiety and stress have been related to not having enough sleep. Adults advised to sleep seven or more hours a night. If you're having difficulty falling asleep, try one of the following:
- Relaxing at bedside,
- Reduces your intake of caffeine, or
- Sets a tighter bedtime routine.
Gain Help
Your social circle is also a vital aspect for preventing a mental health decline. Yet mental health can be a challenging subject to talk to peers about. That frequently prevents people from seeking help.
